Saints Dominate Sul Ross State

San Antonio, Texas- Our Lady of the Lake softball team dominated Sul Ross State with a strong showing, claiming decisive victories in both games. The Saints showcased a balanced offensive attack and timely pitching to secure their wins.

In game one, OLLU tallied 12 runs on 18 hits, while Sul Ross State managed eight runs on 13 hits. Boston Tijernia led the Saints offensively, going 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Emilia Salinas delivered a standout performance with a home run and three RBIs. Lilly Rocha contributed three RBIs, and Caitlin Casas added another run-driving hit. The Saints lineup also demonstrated speed on the basepaths, with Marisa Rosales, Novalee Gloria, and Brianna Ramirez all recording stolen bases.

On the pitching side, Valeria Vielma started and pitched 3.0 innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits with four walks and four strikeouts. Annika Litterio followed with 3.2 innings of relief, giving up just one run on five hits while striking out four. Their combined effort kept Sul Ross State at bay, despite the Lobos generating 12 total bases and seven RBIs.

The second game featured a dominant performance by OLLU, shutting out Sul Ross State 8-0. The Saints scored on nine hits, highlighted by power from Lilly Rocha and Novalee Gloria, each hitting home runs. Rocha drove in three runs, Gloria added three RBIs, and Alyssa Guzman contributed two RBIs, fueling the team's offense. Boston Tijernia, Lilly Rocha, and Novalee Gloria all had multiple-run games, showcasing the depth and consistency of OLLU's batting lineup.

Annika Litterio was exceptional on the mound, pitching a complete game shutout. She allowed only four hits, walked none, and struck out six, keeping Sul Ross State's hitters off balance and controlling the tempo of the game. The Saints' defense also supported her with solid fielding, turning double plays and limiting opportunities for Sul Ross State to mount any scoring threat.

With the two wins, Our Lady of the Lake set the tone for the series, combining potent hitting, aggressive baserunning, and strong pitching performances. The Saints depth proved too much for Sul Ross State, positioning OLLU for a successful sweep against its Division II foe. The Saints will be back in action at home on Friday against Texas Wesleyan at 12:00 PM CDT.
