Litterio Hits Walk Off, Saints Secure Home Split After Shutout Win

San Antonio, Texas- The Our Lady of the Lake University softball team earned a split against Texas Wesleyan, dominating the opener before falling in a competitive second game.

OLLU set the tone early in Game one with a commanding 9-0 victory powered by explosive offense and lights-out pitching. The Saints tallied seven hits and capitalized on four walks, scoring in multiple innings to pull away from Texas Wesleyan.

Lilly Rocha led the charge at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a double and a home run while driving in two runs. Caitlin Casas added a solo home run and finished with an RBI and three runs scored. Annika Litterio helped her own cause in a big way, blasting a three-run homer as part of her 1-for-3 performance with three RBIs to walk it off. Marisa Rosales and Novalee Gloria also contributed RBIs, with Gloria adding a sacrifice fly to extend the Saints lead. Boston Tijernia provided a steady presence at first base, going 2-for-3 and swiping a base, while Reanna Aguirre and Ayanna Trejo each crossed the plate to keep the offensive momentum rolling.

In the circle, Litterio was dominant. The right-hander threw a complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out seven. She faced 18 batters and kept Texas Wesleyan off balance throughout, needing only 71 pitches to secure the win. Texas Wesleyan struggled offensively in the opener, managing just two hits and striking out seven times as OLLU controlled the pace from start to finish.

Game two proved to be more tightly contested, as Texas Wesleyan responded with an 8-5 victory to salvage the split. OLLU collected nine hits in the second game, highlighted by six doubles. Arianna Alejandro, Novalee Gloria, Marina Litterio, Yezenia Perez, Caitlin Casas and Emilia Salinas each recorded two-base hits as the Saints consistently put runners in scoring position.

Rocha continued her strong day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Gloria drove in a run, Marina Litterio added an RBI double, and Casas finished with two RBIs. Alejandro scored once after her two-hit performance, while Alyssa Guzman and Salinas also crossed the plate.

Valeria Vielma started in the circle for the Saints and worked 5.1 innings, allowing four runs while striking out five. Litterio returned in relief and struck out three over 1.2 innings. Despite eight strikeouts from the OLLU pitching staff, Texas Wesleyan capitalized late to pull ahead.

The split keeps the Saints competitive as they move forward towards conference play and build momentum for the stretch run.
