Saints Softball Dominates Southwest
San Antonio, Texas- The Our Lady of the Lake University softball team swept a dominant four-game series against University of the Southwest, combining explosive offense, sharp pitching, and disciplined defense to secure victories of 9–0, 6–0, 14–0, and 9–1. The sweep showcased the Saints depth, versatility, and ability to execute in every phase of the game.
From the first pitch of Game 1, OLLU asserted control. Annika Litterio threw a flawless five-inning shutout, striking out eight and allowing no hits, while the offense erupted for nine runs on 11 hits. Arianna Alejandro led the attack with a double, a home run, and two RBIs, while Boston Tijernia and Lilly Rocha contributed key extra-base hits, including home runs, to power the Saints early dominance. Novalee Gloria and Alyssa Guzman added timely RBIs, setting the tone for the series.
Game two remained competitive early, but OLLU's patience and pitching excellence prevailed in a 6–0 win. Valeria Vielma delivered a masterful seven-inning shutout, striking out 11 while yielding only one hit. Arianna Alejandro, Marisa Rosales, and Novalee Gloria led the offense with consistent contact and run production, helping the Saints maintain control throughout.
The third game was a showcase of offensive firepower, as OLLU tallied 14 runs on 14 hits in another dominant performance. Boston Tijernia drove in four runs, highlighted by a home run, while Lilly Rocha added three RBIs and Marisa Rosales and Novalee Gloria contributed timely hits to keep Southwest off balance. Valeria Vielma again stifled the opposition on the mound, allowing just two hits and striking out seven over five innings.
In the series finale, the Saints completed the sweep with a 9–1 victory. Annika Litterio returned to the circle for six strong innings, allowing just one run while striking out nine. Offensively, the Saints demonstrated balanced production up and down the lineup. Tania Rodriguez hit a home run and drove in two runs, while Danika Jimenez, Annika Litterio, and Novalee Gloria contributed RBIs to maintain constant pressure.
