OLLU Softball Explodes For 19 Runs To Close Series Strong
Alexandria, LA- Our Lady of the Lake endured a difficult start to its series against LSU Alexandria but responded emphatically in the finale, salvaging the final game with a dominant 19–1 run-rule victory after dropping the first two contests.
In the opening game, LSU Alexandria took control early and never relinquished it, securing a 10–2 win in five innings. The Generals capitalized on early opportunities, plating six runs in the first two frames behind a series of extra-base hits. Haley Fontenot and Kaetlyn Dunbar each delivered three-run home runs, while Kilee Moody added a triple and double to pace the offense. Our Lady of the Lake managed limited production in response, highlighted by a solo home run from Novalee Gloria and an RBI from Marisa Rosales. The Saints totaled five hits but left eight runners on base, unable to generate sustained momentum. Valeria Vielma took the loss in the circle, while LSU Alexandria's Lainee Bailey earned the win with a steady performance.
The second game followed a similar pattern, with LSU Alexandria using timely power to secure a 6–1 victory and clinch the series. Fontenot remained a key contributor with another three-run home run, and Jillian Howell matched her with a three-run shot of her own. Our Lady of the Lake was again limited offensively, recording four hits and scoring its lone run on an RBI by Tania Rodriguez. Annika Litterio delivered a solid outing despite the loss, allowing just two hits over five innings, but control issues proved costly. Bailey went the distance for LSU Alexandria, holding the Saints in check throughout the game.
Facing a potential sweep, Our Lady of the Lake responded with its most complete performance of the series in the finale. The Saints erupted for 19 runs on 15 hits, showcasing depth throughout the lineup and overwhelming LSU Alexandria from the outset. Arianna Alejandro set the tone at the top of the order, scoring twice and driving in a run, while Lilly Rocha and Novalee Gloria each crossed the plate three times.
Tania Rodriguez and Caitlin Casas powered the offense in the middle of the lineup, combining for eight RBIs. Rodriguez drove in four runs on two hits, while Casas added a home run as part of her four-RBI performance. Marisa Rosales contributed two hits, including a double, and drove in a pair, while Yezenia Perez added two doubles and three RBIs. Boston Tijerina also made an impact in limited at-bats, driving in two runs.
The offensive surge was more than enough support for Litterio, who returned to the circle and delivered a strong outing. She allowed just three hits and one run over five innings while striking out four, earning the win and helping the Saints close the series on a high note.
After struggling to find consistency in the first two games, Our Lady of the Lake showcased its offensive potential in the finale, preventing a sweep and carrying momentum forward despite the series loss.
