Saints Split Doubleheader Against Eagles

Texarkana, Texas- Our Lady of the Lake and Texas A&M Texarkana split a competitive doubleheader, with Texarkana edging out a tightly contested opener before OLLU responded emphatically in the second game.

In the first matchup, Our Lady of the Lake collected nine hits but came up just short in a 4-3 loss. Arianna Alejandro led the offense with a pair of hits and two RBIs, while Novalee Gloria added a three-hit performance. Yezenia Perez contributed with a double and scored twice, and Marisa Rosales drove in a run as OLLU kept pressure on throughout the game.

Texarkana answered with timely hitting, highlighted by a two-run home run from Skyler Martin that proved to be the difference. Brooke Usrey delivered a three-hit outing with an RBI, and Mackenzie Williams added a run-scoring double. Despite a strong relief effort from Valeria Vielma, who allowed just one unearned run over 5.2 innings, OLLU could not overcome the early deficit.

The Saints turned the momentum around in dominant fashion in the second game, securing a 9-0 victory behind an explosive offensive performance and a complete-game shutout from Annika Litterio.

OLLU again tallied nine hits, but this time capitalized consistently. Alejandro drove in three runs to lead the way, while Marisa Rosales went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI. Caitlin Casas and Novalee Gloria each contributed multi-hit efforts and drove in runs, and Yezenia Perez added an RBI as part of a balanced attack that produced runs across multiple innings.

In the circle, Litterio was in full control, limiting Texarkana to just two hits over six shutout innings while striking out two. She faced only 22 batters and did not issue a walk, keeping Texarkana off balance throughout.

After a narrow setback in the opener, Our Lady of the Lake responded with a complete performance in the second game. The Saints will be back in action against the Eagles tomorrow at 12:00 PM CDT.
