Bruce Lenington Returns to Lead OLLU Softball Program

San Antonio, Texas- Our Lady of the Lake University is pleased to announce the return of Bruce Lenington as Head Softball Coach, bringing back one of the most successful coaches in program history to lead the Saints softball program.

Lenington returns to OLLU after serving as head coach at the University of the Cumberlands during the 2025 season. In his first year leading the Patriots, he guided the program to a 40-21 overall record and an appearance in the NAIA World Series, further demonstrating his ability to build successful programs and compete at the highest level of collegiate softball.

Prior to his time at Cumberlands, Lenington spent five seasons at OLLU, where he transformed the Saints into a national powerhouse. During his first tenure, he compiled an outstanding 238-65 overall record while leading the program to four conference championships, two NAIA World Series appearances, and the 2024 NAIA National Championship. The championship season was highlighted by a program-record 57 victories and earned Lenington recognition as the 2024 NAIA Coach of the Year. He was also named the Red River Athletic Conference Coach of the Year three consecutive times from 2022-24.

"We are excited to welcome Bruce back to OLLU," said Athletic Director Tom Norris. "Bruce has proven throughout his career that he can build championship-caliber programs while developing outstanding student-athletes. His success at OLLU, combined with the remarkable season he led at Cumberlands, makes him uniquely qualified to continue the tradition of excellence within our softball program. We are thrilled to have him return to the Saints family."

Known for his commitment to fundamentals, player development, team culture, and academic excellence, Lenington brings more than a decade of collegiate coaching experience to the position. His coaching career includes stops at Lawrence Technological University, Michigan State University, and the University of the Incarnate Word. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, he has also served as a Kinesiology Professor at both Incarnate Word and OLLU.

Lenington's return marks an exciting new chapter for OLLU softball. His familiarity with the university, championship pedigree, and dedication to student-athlete success position the Saints for continued success on the field, in the classroom, and within the community.

As the Saints look ahead to the future, the return of Coach Lenington reinforces OLLU's commitment to competing for championships while maintaining the values and culture that have become hallmarks of the program.
