SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Alexandra Westerdijk Martin and Carlea Owens both pulled down double digit rebounds on Saturday as the Our Lady of the Lake (OLLU) women's basketball team fell to Texas College by a score of 44-33. Westerdijk Martin had a season high 15 boards while Owens collected 10. Their efforts helped the Saints win the rebounding battle 46-39.

Samantha Fields gave the Saints an early 5-4 lead when the sophomore knocked down a triple off the steal by Westerdijk Martin. On the Saints' next possession, Westerdijk Martin pulled down and offensive board and put it back up for the bucket, extending the OLLU lead to 7-4 with just over four minutes to play in the first quarter. The Steers would hit a pair of threes to close out the quarter to take the 10-7 advantage after the first.

Fields struck again to open the second quarter, hitting her second three of the game to even things at 10. On the Saints' next trip down the floor, Owens scored on an offensive putback, giving OLLU a slim 12-10 lead. Nearly four minutes went by without a point scored by either team, but Julia Plata ended the drought with a three to put the Saints up five at 15-10. With 2:51 to play in the second, Texas College took the lead back and did not surrender it for the remainder of the quarter as the Steers went into halftime with a 20-16 lead.

After trailing for the entire third quarter and the first 2:30 minutes of the fourth, Plata put the Saints back in front, scoring five straight points to make it 31-30. Evangeline Hernandez hit a jump shot at the 7:10 mark that would turn out to be the last bucket of the game for the Saints as the Steers went on a 12-0 run to close out the game.

Plata led the Saints with 11 points while Fields and Owens each finished with six.
