Saints Drop Road Contest Against Eagles
Texarkana, Texas- The Our Lady of the Lake women's basketball team fought with heart from the opening tip, but despite their effort and resilience, they fell 78–62 to the Texas A&M Texarkana Eagles in a game that showed both the grit and growing potential of the Saints. From the start, OLLU showed it was not backing down, matching energy and pushing the pace behind strong guard play and defensive pressure.
Samantha Fields led the Saints with a confident performance, scoring 16 points and knocking down four three-pointers while playing a game-high 35 minutes. Alexandra Westerdijk Martin added 10 points and battled on the boards, while Evangeline Hernandez came off the bench to provide a spark with 13 points, including timely shots that kept OLLU within reach. Amya Miller-Singleton also made her presence felt inside, scoring 10 points and pulling down key rebounds to give the Saints second-chance opportunities.
Defensively, OLLU showed flashes of intensity, forcing turnovers and coming up with 10 steals, highlighted by Isabella Jaramillo's four steals and steady play on both ends of the floor. Shayla Dede helped facilitate the offense with four assists, keeping the ball moving and creating scoring chances, even as the Saints worked through shooting struggles in the paint.
Texas A&M Texarkana ultimately capitalized on rebounding and efficient shooting, using second-chance points and balanced scoring to pull away late.The Saints showed depth, toughness, and moments of strong chemistry that point to brighter performances ahead.
