Saints Finish Third At CAC Women's Golf Championshps
Hobbs, NM- The Our Lady of the Lake University women's golf team delivered a steady and competitive performance at the CAC Women's Golf Championship, finishing third out of six teams in a field that featured strong individual and team showings across the leaderboard.
OLLU was led by Samantha Garcia, who paced the Saints with a two-round total of +22. Garcia remained consistent throughout the tournament, carding rounds of +9 and +13 to secure a fourth-place individual finish. Her ability to stay composed on both days kept OLLU in contention and set the tone for the team's overall effort.
Grayson Weiler followed closely behind, finishing seventh overall at +25. Weiler opened with a solid +8 round before facing tougher conditions on day two, posting a +17. Despite the fluctuation, her first-round performance proved critical in helping the Saints establish an early position in the standings.
Sophia Young contributed another top-10 finish for OLLU, tying for ninth place at +30. Young recorded rounds of +12 and +18, showing resilience as scoring conditions tightened across the field. Her placement gave OLLU three golfers inside the top 10, a key factor in securing the team's third-place finish.
Rounding out the scoring lineup was Samantha Ziegler, who finished 21st at +45. Ziegler posted rounds of +25 and +20, battling through a challenging field and difficult course setup to provide depth to the Saints overall team score.
The tournament was highlighted by strong performances from Victoria BC, which claimed multiple top finishes, including medalist honors from Cindy Koira at +10. The competitive field also featured standout efforts from athletes representing USouthwest and Texas A&M-Texarkana, underscoring the depth of talent in the conference.
