Women's Soccer Suffers Hard Fought Loss To Louisiana Christian

SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 26, 2024) - The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's soccer team fell short against Louisiana Christian University (LCU) 2-1 on Saturday. The Saints move to 7-5-2 overall and 6-4-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). The Wildcats improve to 10-4-2 overall and 9-1-1 in conference.

Game recap

The Wildcats scored just two minutes into the game. Valeria Barriga Casallas found the back of the net on an unassisted goal. There was only one corner kick and a shot on goal by the Wildcats before the Saints evened the score at the 24th minute. Emily Wissel-Littmann scored from far out to swing the momentum. The teams traded shots on goal to end the half at 1-1.

The Saints pressured early in the second half with a corner kick and header on goal. They continued the offensive push with two corner kicks at the 64th minute but failed to score. The Wildcats seized an opportunity at the 68th minute with a goal from Maria Alonso. The Saints had more opportunities later in the frame but the Wildcats held on to win 2-1. Wissel-Littman led the Saints with three shots on goal and Samantha Valadez had five saves in net. 

What's next

The Saints head to Victoria, Texas, to take on the University of Houston-Victoria on Oct. 31 at 1 p.m.
