SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 2, 2024) - The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's soccer team closed the regular season with a 4-2 victory against Huston-Tillotson University (HTU) on Saturday. The Saints are 8-6-2 overall and finish Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) regular season play at 7-5-1. The Rams close at 3-11-1 overall and 2-9-1 in the RRAC.

The Saints honored Haven Ortiz, Dusty Van Huss, Emily Wissel-Littmann, Lyndee Rheinberger, Ez Valles, Olivia Olivarez-Coil, Sara Nishiyama and Samantha Valadez as part of Seniors' Day. 

History

The Saints were 13-3 against the Rams prior to the game.

Game recap

The Rams opened the game with a goal just 58 seconds into the first half. Rheinberger evened the score minutes later with an assist from Lyndee Rheinberger. The Saints continued to take multiple shots on goal and were rewarded at the 39th minute. Vivianna Gutierrez found the back of the net to put the Saints on top. Kaitlyn Olivas assisted on the play. The Saints scored two more goals before the break. Olivas added a goal at the 41st minute with an assist from Emerson Weiler, and Wissel-Littmann put the Saints up 4-1 one minute later on an unassisted goal. 

Huston-Tillotson tallied their second goal at the 70th minute. The Saints didn't score in the second half but continued to pressure with three corner kicks. The Saints finished with 24 shots and 14 were on goal. Wissel-Littmann and Rheinberger had four shots and Valadez picked up the win in net with four saves. Valadez is now 6-6-2 on the season.

The Saints will compete in the RRAC Postseason Tournament starting next week.
