OLLU Women’s Soccer Rolls Past Paul Quinn with 4-1 Win
San Antonio, Texas- OLLU women's soccer put together a commanding performance Sunday evening, earning a 4-1 victory over Paul Quinn College in front of an energized crowd at the OLLU soccer field. The Saints were firing on all cylinders, with standout performances across the pitch and a balanced offensive attack that kept Paul Quinn on the back foot all evening.
Angela Garcia led the way with a stellar two-goal performance, showcasing her ability to finish under pressure. She opened the scoring early in the first half with a well-placed shot from inside the box, then struck again minutes later after receiving a sharp assist from Eleonora Diversi. Garcia finished with five total shots, three on goal, and the team-high two goals.
Diversi was a key contributor throughout the match, creating opportunities in the midfield and pushing forward with confidence. She recorded four shots, three of them on target, and added a goal of her own with a powerful strike from just outside the box. Her combination play and attacking vision helped fuel OLLU's aggressive pace in the first half.
Hannah Brookfield added to the offensive momentum in the second half, finding the back of the net after a loose ball rebound fell to her feet in the box. Brookfield was efficient, taking two shots—both on goal—and converting one for her first goal of the season.
Goalkeeper London Suarez played a unique and impactful role, logging 45 minutes between the posts and making three saves to keep Paul Quinn scoreless during her time on the field.
Paul Quinn managed to score a consolation goal late in the second half, but by then the Saints had firmly secured the win. The match was a complete team effort from OLLU, with solid defensive play, fluid passing, and relentless energy from the opening whistle.
The win marks an important step forward for the Saints, who continue to build momentum as they head into the heart of the season. The Saints will play again on September 11th at 1:00 PM CDT against Southwestern Christian University.
