Track and Field’s Savannah Cassiano inducted into her middle school’s Athletic Hall of Fame
SAN ANTONIO (May 25, 2023) – Savannah Cassiano from the Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) volleyball and track and field teams was inducted into the Harris Middle School Athletic Hall of Fame on Wednesday. Harris is part of the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD).
Cassiano commented, "Winning this award was surreal for me - I couldn't believe it. I am very thankful and very blessed. I finally felt like all my hard work has paid off."
Cassiano attended Harris from 2012-2014 and was a five-sport (volleyball, basketball, track, cross-country and soccer) athlete in seventh and eighth grade. She broke 10 school records in the 4x100m relay, the 400m dash and the 4x400m relay.
While at Burbank High School from 2014-2018, she was named Athlete of the Year in volleyball. She was the SAISD MVP in Volleyball, was a four-time All-District, and she led her team in blocks as a senior. She made the All-Tournament Team in Basketball at the Edgewood Tournament. She marked multiple first-place finishes in the 400m and 200m dash. She was also a Texas Relays qualifier and was a four-time regional and area qualifier.
Cassiano received a volleyball scholarship to OLLU in 2020 and is a two-time Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Scholar-Athlete. She was part of the team that won the Regular-Season and Tournament title, making it to the NAIA Nationals in 2020. The team also won the regular season and was tournament runners-up last year, and the Saints were the Regular-Season champs this past season.
She joined the track and field this season, and her team was the RRAC Championship Runners-Up.
