OLLU Volleyball's Tina Trevino Joins Saints 1,000 Club
SAN ANTONIO (Sept. 18, 2023) – Our Lady of the Lake University's (OLLU) libero Tina Trevino is the third Saints' volleyball player to join the Saints 1,000 Club after she tallied more than 1,000 digs in her three years at OLLU.
Kendall Groff (2013-2016) was the first volleyball student-athlete to be included in the club, after she accumulated more than 1,000 kills; she finished her collegiate career with 1,061 kills. Raven Swain (2014-2017) joined the club after she accumulated more than 1,000 digs. Swain, now the Saints assistant coach, finished her career with 1,188 digs.
Trevino reached 1,003 digs against Oklahoma City University on Aug. 26. She currently has 1,124 digs. She is the 10th female to join the club. Others include women's basketball's Stacey Darnley (1,169 points), Alisha Crump (1,055 points), Nashae Owens (1,259 points), Courtney Bayliss (1,413 points), Julia Rendon (1,116 points), Kasey Saldana (1,583 points) and Lena Wilson (1,372 points); men's basketball's Robert Martinez (1,963 points), Ricardo Zanini (1,023 points), Lo'Ron Smith (1,067 points), Eddie Ortiz (1,000 points), Joe Jackson (1,150 points) and Darion Brown (1,116 points).

Trevino, a native of Laredo, Texas, attended United High School. She joined the Saints' volleyball team in 2021 and recorded 444 digs. The next season, she accumulated 417 digs. This year so far, she has 263 digs. Trevino helped the Saints win the Red River Athletic Conference West Division, and the team was the regular-season runner-up and tournament finalist in 2021. Last season, she guided the Saints to the regular-season title and runner-up for the tournament.
Trevino's awards include AVCA All-South Central Region Honorable Mention in 2021, First Team in 2022; RRAC All-Conference First Team in 2021 and 2022; RRAC All-Tournament in 2021; RRAC Defender of the Year in 2021 and 2022; RRAC Freshman of the Year in 2021; NAIA Scholar-Athlete in 2022; three RRAC Defender of the Week awards in 2021 and four in 2022; and RRAC Scholar Athlete in 2021-2022 and 2022-2023.
