OLLU's Tina Trevino Excels Over the Weekend and Wins Defender of the Week Award
WACO, TEXAS (Aug. 27, 2024) – Tina Trevino of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) claimed the first 2024 RRAC Volleyball Defender of the Week award for Aug. 19-25. This marks the commencement of the 2024 Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) volleyball season's weekly winners.
Trevino accumulated 70 digs and eight service aces as the Saints emerged victorious in 2-of-4 matches as hosts of the Volleyesta Tournament in San Antonio. The senior libero from Laredo, Texas, maintained an average of 5.0 digs per set for the week, including 32 digs in a 3-1 victory over Oklahoma City University. She racked up 16 digs against Nelson University, nine against Eastern Oregon University and 13 vs. Cumberland University. Trevino was named RRAC Defender of the Year last season.
In her junior year, Trevino set the all-time digs record with 1,362 digs and the season record for digs last year with 519. Trevino is the team's leader in most digs in a match with 39.
Trevino is a graduate of United High School in Laredo, Texas, and is majoring in Criminal Justice and Psychology.
