OLLU's Francis, Ramirez, Swain and Trevino Win AVCA All-South Central Region Honors

SAN ANTONIO (Dec. 10, 2024) - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has announced the 2024 All-Region teams for NAIA women's volleyball, a prestigious honor chosen by the NAIA Selection Committee. Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) proudly features four selections this year, a testament to their exceptional performance.

Each of the 10 regions named 14 student-athletes to the All-Region team, and eight players earned honorable mention honors. Additionally, a Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year and Assistant Coach of the Year were selected for each region.

This year's All-Region first-team or honorable mention players represent a diverse group of 118 different NAIA schools. Among them, Mia Francis and Tina Trevino are receiving first-team honors, while Camila Ramirez received honorable mention recognition. Winning Region Assistant Coach of the Year is Raven Swain.

Junior outside hitter Francis, a true force on the court, played in all 32 matches, including 113 sets. She tallied an impressive 305 kills on 833 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .224. Her contributions extended beyond scoring, with 14 service assists, 159 receptions, 126 digs and 36 blocks. Francis' dedication is evident in her two-time repeater status as a Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) First-Team winner. She received AVCA honors in 2022 (second team) and 2023 (first team)

Senior libero Trevino surpassed 2,000 digs this season and finished her career with 2,086. She tied herself from 2023 for the most digs in a game with 39. She played in all 32 matches this season, including 112 sets. She logged 83 assists, 32 service aces, 562 receptions and 631 digs (the most in a season). Trevino was named RRAC Defensive Player of the Year and is a four-time All-Conference First Team award winner. Trevino received regional honors in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Last season, she was named an AVCA-NAIA All-American.

Senior outside hitter Ramirez surpassed 1,000 kills this season and is the all-time leader with 1,218. She played in all 32 matches, including 112 sets. She logged 355 kills on 1,034 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .194. She added 18 assists, 17 service aces, 363 receptions, 196 digs and 21 blocks. Ramirez earned her fourth All-Conference First-Team award. She received AVCA honors in 2022 and 2023.

Assistant Coach Raven Swain also won AVCA All-South Central Region honors in 2016 and 2017 as a player. Under the tutelage of Head Coach Scott Mattera, she led the team to a 23-9 record. Their team this year logged the most assists (1,453), most digs (1,995), most solo blocks (122), second-most kills (1,519), third-most total blocks (195), third most kills in a match (71) and is tied for the most assists in a match (68). The team won the RRAC Postseason Tournament as the No. 2 seed and participated in the Opening Round of the NAIA National Championship.
