OLLU's Trevino Earns AVCA All-American Honorable Mention Honors
SAN ANTONIO (Dec. 18, 2024) - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has announced its women's volleyball All-America Teams for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), as chosen by the NAIA Volleyball All-America Selection Committee. Senior Tina Trevino was recognized as an honorable mention.
The 2024 class includes 42 players—14 on the first, second, and third teams—from 28 schools, and an additional 57 players were honorable mention selections. Additionally, a Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year and Assistant Coach of the Year were selected.
Trevino, who plays as a libero, surpassed 2,000 digs this season and completed her career with 2,086. She tied herself from 2023 for the most digs in a game with 39. She played in all 32 matches this season, including 112 sets. She tallied 83 assists, 32 service aces, 562 receptions and 631 digs. Her 631 digs marked the most in a single season in OLLU history. Trevino was named Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Defensive Player of the Year and is a four-time All-Conference First Team award winner. Trevino was named to the AVCA All-American Team last year.
Trevino helped lead the Saints to qualify for the RRAC Postseason Tournament for the 16th time in program history. The Saints won the tournament this season after upsetting the No. 1 seed Texas A&M University-Texarkana in a sweep. OLLU advanced to the NAIA First Round for the fifth time.
