OLLU Hands TAMUT First Conference Loss in Gritty Five-Set Battle

Texarkana, Texas- The Saints of Our Lady of the Lake University showed their championship composure as they battled past Texas A&M–Texarkana in a thrilling five-set showdown on the road, earning a hard-fought 3-2 victory. The win keeps OLLU perfect in conference play at 5-0 and moves their overall record to 8-7, while dealing TAMUT their first conference loss of the season.

The Saints came out swinging in the opening set, rallying late to edge the Eagles 27-25. Fueled by the precision setting of Lauren Reynard, who led the match with 48 assists, OLLU found its rhythm and closed out a tight second set 25-21. The Eagles refused to go quietly, taking sets three and four by scores of 25-20 and 25-21, forcing a decisive fifth set.

In the final frame, the Saints resilience shone brightest. Mia Francis delivered another dominant performance at the net, racking up 24 kills to lead all players. Anais Velazquez Figueroa also had 14 kills and Clarissa Rodriguez provided crucial support with 10 kills, while the Saints defense held firm under pressure. Chanisty Villareal Bermea anchored the back row with 22 digs, Arianna Moreno added 16, and Mia Perez chipped in 10 more to keep the ball alive during critical rallies.

At the net, Bailey Scott and Nicole Bir came up clutch, combining for seven blocks, with Scott leading the way at four and Bir adding three key stops to halt TAMUT's momentum.

When the dust settled, OLLU secured the final set 15-12, sealing a signature win that showcased their determination and depth. The Saints will be back in action tomorrow against TAMUT at 12:00 PM CDT.
