OLLU Falls to Texas A&M–Texarkana in Four Sets

Texarkana, Texas– The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) volleyball team dropped a hard-fought match on the road against Texas A&M–Texarkana, falling 1–3 (25–21, 17–25, 21–25, 21–25).

The Saints came out strong in the opening set, controlling the tempo and executing cleanly on offense to claim a 25–21 win. Setter Lauren Reynard orchestrated the attack with precision, finding her hitters in rhythm and pushing OLLU to an early lead.

Momentum, however, shifted in the second set as the Eagles adjusted defensively and tightened up at the net. Despite strong efforts from Anais Velazquez Figueroa, who finished with a team-high 16 kills, and Clarissa Rodriguez, who added 11 kills, the Saints struggled to maintain consistency and dropped the next three sets 17–25, 21–25, and 21–25.

Reynard posted another impressive evening with 42 assists and 11 digs, anchoring the OLLU offense while contributing defensively. Libero Chanisty Villareal Bermea led the back row with 15 digs, while Sophia Castillo and Josalynn Saldana added 11 and 8 digs, respectively. At the net, Nicole Bir paced the Saints with three blocks.

With the loss, OLLU moves to 8–8 overall and 5–1 in Red River Athletic Conference play. The Saints will look to bounce back when they return home for a Halloween matchup against Xavier University of Louisiana.
