OLLU Sweeps Texas College in Straight Sets
Tyler, Texas- Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) volleyball put on a commanding performance Thursday night, sweeping Texas College 3–0 in dominant fashion. The Saints showcased sharp offense, steady defense, and excellent teamwork to control every set from start to finish.
The Saints hit an impressive .383 as a team, spreading the offense across the court and keeping Texas College on its heels throughout the match. Anais Velazquez Figueroa led the attack with six kills on a .444 hitting percentage, setting the tone for OLLU's consistent offensive rhythm. Close behind was Mia Francis, who recorded five kills and a strong .364 hitting clip, while Nicole Bir added five more kills of her own with a stellar .833 efficiency, committing no errors on six swings.
Bailey Scott and Mayland Ortega contributed key offensive production, combining for six kills and keeping the Saints momentum rolling. Scott added four kills, while Ortega chipped in two and anchored the defense with six digs.
Setting the pace for OLLU was Lauren Reynard, who dished out nine assists and kept the attack balanced. Carly Dossett provided an additional eight assists, helping maintain a smooth offensive flow. Defensively, Sophia Castillo was a standout with eight digs, while Josalynn Saldana added four more, preventing Texas College from gaining any rhythm at the net.
At the service line, the Saints pressure paid off with five total aces, including a pair from Castillo and several crucial runs that built large leads early in each set. The Saints blocking presence, led by Bir and Scott, also disrupted Texas College's attack and kept OLLU in control.
The win marked a strong all-around effort for the Saints, who continue to show balance and depth across their lineup. OLLU's crisp execution and team chemistry were evident from start to finish as the Saints closed out the match in three quick sets.
With the 3–0 victory, OLLU builds confidence heading into the final stretch of the season, proving once again that the Saints can dominate on both sides of the ball when firing on all cylinders.
