Women's Soccer Faces Louisiana Christian University in RRAC Tournament

SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 5, 2024) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's soccer team will battle Louisiana Christian University (LCU) in the quarterfinals of the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Postseason Tournament on Friday at 3 p.m. The Saints are the No. 7 seed while the Wildcats grabbed the No. 2 seed. The Wildcats will host the game at Wildcat Field in Pineville, La.

Tournament schedule

The quarterfinals will take place on Thursday and Friday with the higher seed hosting the matchup. No. 6 seed University of Houston-Victoria opens the tournament against No. 3 seed Xavier University of Louisiana at 11 a.m. No. 5 seed Texas A&M University-Texarkana (TAMUT) faces No. 4 seed LSU-Alexandria at 12 p.m., followed by No. 8 seed Texas A&M University-San Antonio versus No. 1 seed LSU-Shreveport at 1 p.m. The Saints will close the quarterfinals at LCU on Friday at 3 p.m. OLLU hosted LCU on Oct. 26 and lost 2-1. The Saints are 2-3-1 in the series history against the Wildcats. 

The semifinals and championship games will be played at Eagle Field in Texarkana, Texas, hosted by TAMUT. The two semifinal contests will be on Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The championship takes place after an off day on Nov. 14 at 1 p.m.

History

The Saints have made it to the finals in 2009, 2010 and 2021; the semifinals in 2011, 2012, 2018 and 2022; and they won the conference tournament in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2020. The Saints missed making the playoffs two years – in 2008 and in 2017.

OLLU season stats

The Saints closed the regular season with an 8-6-2 overall record and 7-5-1 mark in the RRAC. In 16 games this season, the Saints have scored 35 goals, and added 21 assists on 159 shots, 96 on goal.

Lyndee Rheinberger leads the team with eight goals. Leah Tapia follows with five goals. Rheinberger and Tapia both have over 30 shots on the season. Samantha Valadez has tallied 64 saves with a .762 save percentage. Valadez is 6-6-2 in the net with one shutout. 

LCU season stats

The Wildcats enter the postseason on a six-game winning streak. They went 11-1-1 in conference and 12-4-2 overall. LCU has played in 18 games this season and the Wildcats have 43 goals, and added 32 assists on 279 shots, 151 on goal.

Emma Monnet leads the Wildcats with 10 goals. Monnet also has the most shots on goal with 40. Maria Alonso has assisted on 11 goals and Jaycee Woods has 64 saves in net. Woods has played every minute in net for the Wildcats.
