Terrell, Texas – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season on Thursday afternoon, falling 3-1 to Southwestern Christian University in a match that saw the Saints control possession, generate consistent pressure, and outshoot their opponents 20-7.

Southwestern Christian struck quickly, capitalizing on an early opportunity just 1 minute and 46 seconds into the match. Despite the early deficit, the Saints responded with intensity, keeping the ball in the attacking third and firing off 10 shots in the first half alone. However, their pressure failed to translate into goals, and the Eagles doubled their lead in the 31st minute.

OLLU's attack continued to surge throughout the match. The Saints controlled the pace, earned five corners, and created numerous chances, but struggled to convert against a compact Southwestern Christian defense and an outstanding performance by the Eagles' goalkeeping, who racked up nine saves.

Goalkeeper London Suarez faced three shots on goal, allowing two goals and making one save. In the second half it was Salka Hrafns, who faced a single shot on goal and allowed one goal in her appearance. Defensively, OLLU remained organized, and the midfield consistently disrupted the Eagles' build-up play, but Southwestern Christian made the most of their limited chances, adding a third goal in the 81st minute to put the game seemingly out of reach.

The Saints continued to fight until the final whistle. Their persistence was rewarded in the 89th minute when Grace Reed found the back of the net off a precise assist from Eleonora Diversi, breaking through the Eagles' back line and cutting the deficit to two.

The defeat drops OLLU to 2-1-1 on the season, but the team remains poised for a strong campaign.

OLLU will look to bounce back this Saturday when they take on Nelson University (Texas) at 5:00 PM CDT.
