Shreveport, LA- The Our Lady of the Lake University women's soccer team battled hard on the road but came up short in a 4–1 loss to LSU Shreveport on Thursday afternoon.
LSU Shreveport struck early with two quick goals in the 15th minute, finding the back of the net at 15:07 and again just 38 seconds later at 15:45. OLLU, however, wasted little time responding. In the 18th minute, Eleonora Diversi capitalized on an attacking push, finishing a well-placed shot at 17:34 to bring the Saints back within one. The goal energized OLLU, who went on to control several stretches of the first half, winning the battle on corner kicks 7–3 and testing the LSUS back line.
The Saints defense held firm through much of the second half, but an unlucky own goal in the 75th minute widened the gap to 3–1. Still pressing forward, OLLU continued to search for a breakthrough before LSUS added one final goal at 80:41.
Goalkeeper London Suarez played 76 minutes and 33 seconds, recording two saves while facing sustained pressure from the Pilots attack. Freshman keeper Salka Hrafns entered for the final 13:27, making her presence felt despite allowing one goal during her time in net. OLLU finished with four total shots to LSUS's 11 but showed promise in their ability to create set-piece opportunities and sustain possession in key moments.
OLLU will look to bounce back on Saturday when they take on Louisiana Christian.
